Sun, Rain, and Hail All in One Race – Top of Utah Marathon

Race report for Top of Utah Marathon. Last night I listened to the wind and rain as I tried to tame my nerves and get some sleep.  I wondered what the course would be like…how wet it would be.  The early morning started with a bus ride up to Blacksmith Fork canyon.  I hadn’t been [...]

Boston Marathon 2011 Race Report

This was to be my first “real” race back post the bike crash of May 2011, when I broke my hip. I had qualified in 2009 with a 2:59:42, so my dream goal here this weekend was to go sub-3. At the end of the day, I fell short by about a minute but I am super pumped with my performance. Thanks to everyone for your support…if you want more details, read on!

The Ultimate Boston Marathon Overview Part 2: The Training

Training for the Boston Marathon is unique on three distinct levels. First, it’s typically your second marathon training cycle within a 12-month window. Being able to improve from race to race is about more than just training more or running faster — actually learning from your performance is a critical step towards realizing your marathon potential.

Race Report: This Race is For the Birds

This was a race in Shepherdstown, WV, that had a number of distances: 7.7m, 4.9m, 2m and 1m. The big draw of the race is that it was held in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center which is usually closed to the public. This race was also a trail race.
