Like most of the rest of the world, I continue to struggle with processing what happened in Boston on Marathon Monday. In a matter of 15 seconds, two bombs changed my hometown marathon into a global spectacle of terror, tragedy and intrigue.

Inside Marathon Nation we are focused on getting you as fit as possible without sucking up every available hour in your day. We believe that running is more than a set of workouts, but that it’s a lifelong journey with lots of little daily steps.

Training is important, but if you aren’t having fun…why do it? In the spirit of fun and making new friends, we are holding our first annual Virtual Marathon Relay (5/15 & 16). Our goal is to get you connected, running, and having fun. There are a few categories for prizes, but this all runs on the honor system — so if you’re gonna play, play fair!

This was a race in Shepherdstown, WV, that had a number of distances: 7.7m, 4.9m, 2m and 1m. The big draw of the race is that it was held in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center which is usually closed to the public. This race was also a trail race.
